3 Great Ford Models with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

Whether you drive a Mustang Mach-E, an F-150, an Explorer, or any other Ford model, your vehicle contains a range of advanced driver assistance systems called Co-Pilot360. These systems protect you and your passengers by identifying potentially dangerous situations. As your Ford dealership, we want to tell you about how a few of these systems work. more From Your Ford Dealership: 3 Great Driver Assistance Systems Available in All Ford Models Blind Spot Assist Blind spots have always been potentially dangerous, especially when changing lanes. These areas are exceptionally difficult to monitor, and once a vehicle enters one, it's effectively invisible to you until it's too late to prevent an accident. This system makes driving safer, using specialized sensors on your Ford's rear sides to continually scan blind spots for approaching vehicles. If you're about to change lanes and Blind Spot Assist identifies a vehicle in the new lane, you'll hear warning beeps, and a warning icon will appear on the corresponding side mirror. In addition, the system applies resistance to the steering wheel in the direction you're turning as a warning to turn back into your original lane and avoid an accident. Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking This system detects vehicles ahead of you and warns if you're approaching too fast, so you can react and prevent a collision. It uses a specialized camera and radar to measure the distance to the other vehicle, and it then compares the distance to your present speed. If the system determines there's a collision risk, a warning icon will appear on your screen.  You'll also hear warning beeps if you continue to approach the other vehicle. If you can't react fast enough by hitting the brakes or taking other action to prevent an accident, the system will intervene. Your braking system will automatically engage to almost instantly stop your Ford and prevent an accident or reduce the damage caused by one. Lane-Keeping System This feature operates at 40 mph or more and uses a dedicated camera to scan the road for lane line markings. Once the markings are detected, you'll see a vehicle icon on your screen with green lines on either side. The system then works to keep you safely inside your lane and can provide alerts or even intervene if you're about to leave your lane and aren't actively steering. The lines on either side of the vehicle icon change to yellow if you're too close to the line borders, and you'll also hear warning sounds. If you select the assistance setting, this system automatically applies steering torque to the wheel to turn your wheels back into your lane.
